Blade of the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) helicopter on Saturday took the life of Umaru Abdul Ganimu, an aircraftman, in Bama, Borno State.
The helicopter’s blade chopped off his head.
Air Cheif Marshall Ganimu, a member of the NAF team actively engaged in the Boko-Haram counter-insurgency operation in the North-East, was passing through the side of the helicopter with functioning rotor when the blade chopped off his head – he was going to pick his bag, source says.
The copter was ceased and taken back to the airbase without any damage on inflicting rotor.
The sad incident happened by 4:00pk on Saturday.
ACM Ganimu has since been buried according to Islamic rites, at the Maimalari Military Cemetery in Maiduguri and his relatives were duly informed.
