Senator Representing Bayelsa-East, Sen. Ben Murray-Bruce has raised an alarm on what the “Body Bag” comment by Gov. Nasir El-Rufai will do to Buhari’s Government. He attacked the El-Rufai saying that the comment was reckless of a public office holder.
Follow up on the Body Bag story spree here.
Senator Ben Bruce via his social media account wrote this,
“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags,”
El-Rufai’s threat has since sparked severe criticisms and reactions from Nigerians and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
PDP has in its reaction threatened to pull out of the peace accord. Reacting to the development, Bruce wrote on Twitter;
“Is this madness? President Buhari if you don’t reject this evil, this fellow will bring your government into disrepute!
“Never in Nigeria’s history have we ever had such recklessness in a public official. I urge APC to publicly repudiate this.
“In this election season, we have heard so many violence inspiring utterances and rhetoric, to the extent that I feel compelled to urge all of Nigeria’s leaders to remember that you can’t claim to be a leader and then speak like a destroyer. You must choose one or the other.”
In my own opinion, Gov. El-Rufai’s Body Bag statement defames the image of a prestigious country like Nigeria. It goes beyond threatening foreign representative body like The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), it also threatens foreign investors who look to invest in Nigeria. Hearing a Governor make mention of “Body Bag” in such context is enough ruin the reputation of a Nation.
It goes far to describe the personality of Gov. Nasir El-Rufai who has ever been controversial towards the general public for the favor of his masters.
