Election period in Nigeria is one of the times businesses experience growth in their profit chart, well not all businesses. Each campaign rally organized by each political party cost nothing less than 1 million Naria for the cheapest of them. Add together all the logistics and expenses, you would be surprised at how much politicians throw away.
Its in favor of everyone in general, the money gets to circulate again. Everyone gets his or her fair share of money flowing in the circle, but some people doing certain businesses get most of the money during election period and they are listed below.
These ones are the top earners. If there was one printing press in Nigeria, they will make more money in a day than bill gate. How ? Every street and road in Nigeria now is decorated with posters and fliers of all sort, campaign, manifestos, slanders etc. And not less than 100 posters are pasted in each street. Do the math.
So, get your own printing press against 2023 general elections.
Graphics designers are the second top earners, the design the printed fliers and they also design the online campaigns. Printing press can decide to be partisan, but graphics designers are not. They are best of any world. And trust me they double the cost when in contact with political parties.
Basic knowledge of Photoshop and the right connections can get you started. But you must really know your thing.
Wears Manufacturing factory
The third most lucrative business during election period in Nigeria. You can’t count the number of customized polo and caps during a political parties’s campaign. Wears manufacturing companies swing into 24 hours work time to meet demands during election periods. They are almost overwhelmed by the demand, so they increase the cost of production and guess what, politicians can afford any price.
Isn’t this a good business ideas ahead of 2023 ?.
Media houses are two times busier during election times. You can barely find a free slot with media houses because politicians own some media houses or have already paid for the free slots. It takes a lot to start up a media company, and it takes a lot to run it, so they’ll charge you a lot for a advert slot.
These ones organize campaign grounds for parties. Sometimes if you don’t pay them well, they can build a collapsible stage for you, like the one that happened in Kebbi state. So political parties dish out serious amount for these guys and they deliver as much as you can pay.
To start, grab basic furniture making skills and enhance to metal work and general stage setup, then you’re good to go.
Bloggers too make money during election period, its part of their earning means. Displaying political ads online is a fortune generator for every blogger. You can extend to sponsored articles despite its side effect, but its your money right ? With a good blog, you can make up to 100,000 naira in a month.
Have good research and typing skills. Then pick a niche you know that relates with politics then you’re ready.
All of a sudden NGOs
During election period we see sudden spring out of unknown, overnight NGOs that agitate for various movements. Free and fair election, say no to vote buying, credible election, say no to political thuggery, etc. These are some of the topics these “All of a sudden NGOs” agitate for. They have their way of making money from it and its unique to each organization.
Reputable NGO’s perform their civic duties too, but you get to see more NGO in action only during election period.
Singer, BadBoy JP calls out Teni and Wizkid for stealing his song
Nigerian singer stage named BadBoy JP has taken to social media court to mention a case where he alleged that Wizkid and Teni stole his song and are about releasing it.
BadBoy said his former producer, “North Boi The Oracle” shifted his intellectual property to wizkid and Teni. BadBoy took the case to the internet in appeal to the general public to plea on his behalf so that Wizkid and Teni doesn’t release the song.
Read what BadBoy JP wrote,
Pls people one of my favorite music idol @wizkidayo & the talented @tenientertainer are about to release a song that I cracked my head & put in massive work in the studio to creatively compose with my then producer @northboitheoracle who was hired and paid fully by my label @ubrecordsltd as our in house producer.
This song in question is one of the many songs that our then in house producer @northboitheoracleproduced for me and yet he went contrary to his agreement with my label to send both the beat and my vocals to @wizkidayo which inspired our superstar to collaborate with @tenientertainer and is even about to drop the song, which I plan to release after my next single featuring Wande Coal which is about to drop next week.
Pls I know @wizkidayo is a giant with millions of fans, but pls I need Everyone to help me beg @northboitheoracle @wizkidayo & @tenientertainer not to go ahead and do me wrong like this, @wizkidayo has given us so many hits in the past and so I believe he can still creatively think up a song & beat he can own 100%. As you all can see am coming out less than 24hrs he dropped the snippet on his Live Story without waiting for him to drop the full song so that his fans won’t accuse me of being the one that copied our LEGEND.
Blackface gives terms on which he will end the fight with 2Baba
The fight between former band members Blackface and 2face recently took a new dimension after the Blackface claimed 2Baba is gay.
Goodnews is that Blackface has given a condition to end fight with 2face in a new interview with The Pulse.
In the chat with The Pulse, Blackface expressed his frustrations over the quarrel and court case between him and 2baba.
“They should also ask what is 2face after too? What is his game plan? What is his plan with Efe Omorogbe his manager, or do you think they don’t have any plan?
I have given them my conditions. See ‘Let Somebody Love You’ is my song, I told them my conditions that the manager must take his name out.”
Efe Omorogbe, 2Baba had been listed as a co-composer of the song and the lead singer in 2face’s 2014 Album “The Ascension”, a twist that has not gone down well with Blackface who insists that it is a plot to cut down the percentage of his rewards.
“I wrote the song before he became 2face’s manager, so how will a song I have written before he became the manager and you people want to render the song and he did not tell me about it.
How does that seem to the world? They are just paying people to write rubbish about me, that is what they have been doing all their career.
There is always a silent killer now, so he is the silent killer in this matter, he is silent and he is the one doing the damage in the matter. You guys need to give them the real state of the matter because the thing is going crazy and we are fighting this because of the entertainment industry.”
Blackface said that he doesn’t appreciate that he is seen as the bad guy in the story, he wrote.
“What I am fighting for now is not just for myself, what I am fighting for is for the future of the Nigerian music industry where people like Efe Omorogbe will not just come from nowhere and put themselves in an artist catalog that they wrote the song.Who does that?
It has to stop. And the only reason they can do that type of thing is that they feel they have the media to back them up.
So tell the world what those people have done, not for people to be asking what does Blackface really want? What have they done that they are hiding? That are the questions that should be asked”.
