Alexander Goldinsky, a 57-year-old independent contractor, was caught on surveillance video throwing ice on the floor and faking a fall so he could claim an insurance.
After the fake fall, Alexander Goldinsky filed a false insurance claim between September 1, 2018 and November 1, 2018, for ambulance services and the treatment he received for injuries he said he sustained during the “fake” fall according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey said in a statement.
But, the insurance office reviewed the surveillance footage and saw that he had faked the fall.
The office released the surveillance video from the company’s empty break room, showing Goldinsky who went to get something to eat throwing the ice and strategically throwing himself on the floor.
Alexander Goldinsky was arrested on January 15, and charged with “one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree for fraudulently filing an insurance claim”,
He was released on a summons and is scheduled for an initial court appearance on February, 7, 2019.
Middlesex County’s Prosecutor’s office said in a statement:
“The investigation revealed that Goldinsky purposely threw the ice on the floor in the cafeteria at his workplace, placed himself on the ground, and waited until he was discovered.
Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system.”
