As shared by a Twitter user, @Tallestguy_ who keyed into a trending hashtag – #WeAreLasuWeAreProud to recount what LASU did to him.
Year 2016, I chose to study at LASU because it’s really close to my house(ajangbadi) and most of my friends study there. I’ve never been to any other uni so I thought LASU was the most beautiful university I’ve ever seen. I took jamb and scored 215. Was told the cutoff is 180 so I bought the utme form.
That time, they used just o’level and jamb score. I put in for my favorite course Psychology. I had the right subject combination in both utme and jamb. I was waiting for screening..
After submitting all the necessary documents, my total score was 62.88% and I was told “eligible for admission but not yet granted admission. Was waiting for cutoff mark but they didn’t release. I was told so long I scored above 50, I’d be offered admission. Weeks later, they started releasing list of admitted students. Batch A, my name wasn’t there. I felt down💔💔 but was told LASU doesn’t release just a list so I had to chill. ( I don’t know anyone neither did I put Lagos as my state). To cut the long story short, lasu released till batch E but I wasn’t offered admission. My dad’s friend whose daughter had 45 and put in for computer was offered admission because she knows a prof and was able to bribe the prof.
The man told my dad that he should have worked it..
But we thought LASU grants admission mainly based on merit but reverse was the case. (Connection and being a lagosian matters). Most of my friends gained admission and left me at home for a whole year. But, thank God LASU wasn’t for me. The following year, I chose UI, scored 245 in jamb, wrote utme(exam) and scored 56.625 while the cutoff was just 56.13 and I was offered admission.
I’m now as student of the first and best university in Nigeria.
Don’t get me wrong, LASU is a nice school. But their admission process isn’t straight. Maybe I was destined for a better university😂.
Now let the bants and sub roll in😂😂😂
