The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has written a tribute to the former and first executive president of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari who passed out yesterday after a brief illness at the National Hospital in Abuja.
President Buhari tributes is a coming a day later after the death of Shehu Shagari despite much rumors that he won’t speak of the man who he overthrew his government by a military coup in 1983.
President Buahri via his verified Twitter account wrote,
“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Nigeria, it is with immense sadness that I received the news of the passing away of the first Executive President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari. I mourn the departure of a patriot, who served Nigeria with humility, integrity and diligence. Nigerians held him in the highest esteem even when he was out of office, until his demise, and will forever miss his wise counsels.
I pray that Almighty God will comfort his family and all who mourn him, and grant his soul eternal rest.”
Alhaji Shehu Shagari is to be buried today at the local government in Sokoto named after him, Shagari Local government.
I pray that Almighty God will comfort his family and all who mourn him, and grant his soul eternal rest.
