Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the former Chief of Defence Staff has been murdered in cold blood on his was returning from his farm.
Online reports suggest that armed-guard entitled Alex Badeh was attacked along Abuja-keffi way while in his vehicle returning from his farm.
Sources revealed that Alex Badeh was attacked by gunmen who emptied bullets which were supposedly shot from the windscreen. The reason behind his death wasn’t known but popular belief is that “strong critic of Buhari’s government”, this is according to Reno Omokri.
Following his demise, concerned Nigerians have taken to social media to write down their tribute.
Bukola Saraki wrote,
“Nigeria has suffered another great loss with the passing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh. My heartfelt prayers go to his family and our Armed Forces at this tragic time. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest. Amin.”
Air Commodore Ibikunle write,
“It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce the unfortunate demise of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who died today, 18 Dec 18, from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road. On behalf officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, commiserates with the family of the late former Chief of Defence Staff over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest.”
Nigerians reacting to the death of the fomer Chief of defense staff expressed fear over insecurity. Stating that if a CDS entitled to armed-guards could be murdered, how much more a regular Nigerian.
Reno Omokri wrote,
Just look at what they did to Alex Badeh! This assassination is too convenient and must be investigated by a Panel of Inquiry. He was s firmer Chief of Defence Staff entitled to armed guards. Where were those guards?
The right lieutenant wrote,
“Nigeria is on a low. A 4-star General killed like a chicken, just like that. That means the rest of us are just on a queue. May Alex Badeh’s soul rest in peace.”
Favour Onyeoziri said,
“If Alex Badeh, a former Chief of defense staff and 4-star General can be easily ambushed and killed just like that, then I don’t even know again. Let’s just vote God in the 2019 elections.”
