Buhari’s WAEC Cert – US Army War College said they don’t have it

The Buhari WAEC certificate scandal is getting curiouser and curiouser. The US War College just said, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, that Buhari didn’t submit any credentials to it to qualify for its training.

President Buhari

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari educational qualification has created waves across the nation. Leaving many Nigerians in disbelief, if the incumbent president is qualified to run for presidential seat again.

Before emergence of Buhari as Nigerian President in 2015, through APC. PDP the opposition party crossed all length to ensure the disqualification of Buhari from elections. Claiming he does not posses the minimum educational requirement and therefore he is not qualified to run for the presidential post. But the electoral body, INEC the  a “go-ahead” to Buhari prior to the presentation of a debatable affidavit.

According to Nigerian Constitution, one is qualied to run for presidency if:

  • he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth;
  • he has attained the age of thirty five years;
  • he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party;
  • he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

The last requirement is what has given room to all angles of debate over Buhari’s emergence as President.

News following the case of educational qualification of Nigeria’s current president, President Buhari is a confirmation from US War College which says Muhammadu Buhari was enrolled but not prior to any credentials.

President Buhari attended the college in the 90s and it is believed that he submitted a cert which qualified him for a professional course at US war college.

Unfortunately, the college didn’t require any form of qualification for enrollment, not until year 2000 when Master of Strategic Studies was introduced.

President Buhari currently has not made any response to this as of the time of this post. He already presented an attestation from the West Africa Examination Council, Nigeria to INEC. But that didn’t settle the dust surrounding the authenticity of the certificate.

Nigerians are still looking forward to a tide turning election in 2019.
