A Nigerian soldier fell from a balcony to his death when he tried to catch his phone falling over the balcony during a conversation with a friend.
32-year-old soldier, Lance Corporal Nicholas Githaiga, based in Germany fell from the third floor of the building. Neighbours could hear Nicholas’s friend’s voice (Eva Muthoni) shouting over the phone which survived the fall while Nicholas lost his life.
He was on the phone with Eva Muthoni during the time of his death, who said:
“He was a very happy person. It was common for him to phone me if he was stressed and if he had been drinking. When we were on the phone I could tell he was drunk.”
Daniella had been trying to get him arrested for drink driving. He was worried and wanted to go and see his family. He explained to me that he was going through divorce proceedings.
“About two hours after the conversation had started he said, ‘My phone is falling. Wait, wait.’ We were on loudspeaker, so I could hear him. Then there was a small bang. I repeatedly called his name but there was silence. For most of the time I could hear that the phone was still on. I do not believe Nicholas would hurt himself, he was so full of life. I do not believe he is the type of person to hurt himself.”
An a judicial inquiry at Southwark Coroner’s Court heard that the soldier was at the window smoking a cigarette when the telephone tumbled from his hand. He frantically endeavored to seize it, yet rather dropped out of the window to his demise.
Lt. Cpl. Nicholas was expected for a medicinal release from the armed force and had been experiencing pressure. The father-of-two had been hitched however his wife Danielle Pigurs had attempted to have him captured for drink driving. Daniella complained to German police that Nicholas had been drink driving however the energizes were not taken after.

Abdul Karim, statement read to the court:
“I wanted to go to bed and sleep. Nicholas was meant to sleep on the sofa. I was in the bathroom, and Nicholas knocked on the door. I let him smoke in there, because all the other flatmates were none smokers. He was on the phone and I spoke to Eva to say hello. During the night, I received a knock the door from a neighbour. I was told Nicholas was lying on the ground. I ran outside, and people were already around Nicholas. We had planned to arrange a surprise party for him because he was leaving the army.”
Coroner Julian Morris who gave the confirmation of the death to the court said:
“On 18 June 2017, Nicholas Githaiga, who had been drinking died. He fell from a window. He was at the window to smoke a cigarette and he was on the phone at the time. It is clear that he dropped the phone and fell trying to recover it. He died from head and chest injuries sustained from the fall. I pass on my regards to his family in these very tragic circumstances.”

The anonymous man also tried to take his own life afterwards, but it failed.

The woman’s lover has been detained at the couple’s home and a criminal investigation has been launched according to part 1 article 105 of the Russian criminal code – deliberate murder.
People lived around said that the man was never that aggressive but after he recently lost his job and started drinking, he went bananas.
There have been several cases where job loss can make one take the wrong turn in life and do something unimaginable. That’s why laid off workers need a therapist if any unusable behavior is read.
This is the second case in less than a week in Russia where complaints about bad cooking have resulted in murder.

The husband said that the food she served their guests was lacking salt.

Power Outage hit Murtala Mohammed Airport for five hours – Read what passengers did
It came as a shock as Murtala Mohammed Airport in Ikeja Lagos State went into stone age for five hours. The airport experienced power outage which forced the terminal to switch to manual for continuity.
The General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, said that the power failure was due to a “minor electrical fault”.
Sahara Reporters reported that sources close to the terminal reveal that some of the passengers had to pull off their shirt especially the males and use hand fans.
Yakubu further stated that FAA engineers were already working to rectify the “minor electrical fault”, assuring the public that normalcy would be restored soon.
Yakubu added by saying that the outage did not affect normal flight operations at the airport and flight operations continued uninterrupted.
Well, the terminal crew switched to manual.
