President Muhammadu Buhari to commission Africa Development Bank in Abuja

In a bid to alleviate the rapid growing poverty rate in Nigeria and bring international expertise in aid,
Africa Development Bank Nigeria office will be commissioned by president, Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow, Thursday, being the 18th day of January, 2018.

The commissioning is believed to take place at that Umar Musa Yar’adua centre, central business district, Abuja, with security measures put in place prior to the attendance by the Country’s president and top Government officials.

African Development Bank (AfDB) brought the ‘Farming is Cool’ initiative to school children in Nigeria to shift the cognition  to agriculture.
The organization headed by Akinwumi Adesina, conducted a Junior Art Contest in Nigeria to promote the potential of agriculture to secondary school children in which the winners will be recognised at the commissioning of the Nigeria office building in Abuja.
Winners of the art contest will bag a partial scholarship of 1,000,000 Naira, 500,000 Naira and 250,000 Naira as first, second and third place prizes, respectively.

The commissioning serves to consolidates Nigeria’s position as the largest shareholder in AfDB with a portfolio of approximately US $6 billion and country operations accounting for 13% of the Bank’s total assets.
In a news report, the president of AfDB expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for the support as the office building solidifies Nigeria’s partnership with AfDB.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, said that the power failure was due to a “minor electrical fault”.
