As shared by Julius who is a publisher in Bayelsa….
‘Last night at about 10:40 I had an urgent call from James Baridi in an area few metres from my house. When I went it was the fresh scene of a rather violent robbery. A girl I would later identity as an AIT staff was lying half-conscious in a pool of her blood. Witnesses said it was a lone gunman who had trailed her from Shiloh. Just in front of her house he showed the gun, took her phone, jewelry and cash. But the animal didn’t end there. He took steps backwards and shot her at close range even as she gave him no problems.
Her landlady, James and I rushed her to Tobis Hospital at Akenfa. To our surprise Animals were the ones administering that place. They would not save her life except we provide a police report and a wholesome amount.
We took her to another hospital at Igbogene, Himmei or thereabouts, the people here were humans and they commenced treatment instantly including fresh pounds of blood.
By morning we realized we needed to contact her family, but how? She lives alone and her phones were gone. In the area no one knows much about her except that she’s a journalist for AIT. We also reported the matter to the Akenfa police division
For a start, I called NUJ Bayelsa scribe Ebiowei Lawal who called her office.
Its been a very long day. Patience Owe will make it and we have God to thank. Our prayers will remain with her’

Chinese father sells his baby daughter to pay off gambling debts
A Chinese father has been arrested for selling his 1-year-old daughter for £6,800 to pay off his gambling debts.
Jiang, sold the one-year-old to a couple after owing more than 60,000 Yuan (£6,798), according to reports in China.
Jiang told his wife that he was taking their daughter to stay with his mother. He flew the child more than 1,150 miles away from their home in Guiyang, Guizhou province, last November.
Wang, his wife grew concerned after his failure to return three months later but repeatedly postponed their return.
In February, 2019, she checked her husband’s phone and found shocking conversations between her husband and her daughter’s buyers.
Wang went to her husband’s mother in Zunyi city, about 87 miles away, who informed her that her son and granddaughter left her weeks ago.
She immediately contacted police and they tracked Jiang down to a hotel in Guiyang last month.
When he was caught, Jiang admitted to owing a huge gambling debt and decided to take the drastic measure after seeing online adverts for child adoption.
How Jiang Planned on Selling his daughter
Jiang lied to the buyers – a couple in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province – that he was a single father who could no longer afford to care for the girl. He went further to claim that his own parents were dead so he had nowhere else to turn.
Fortunately, the child was located by the police last Friday and reunited with her mum.
Jiang has been arrested and charged with suspicion of human trafficking, according to the police.
