Policeman who killed a commercial driver over N50 bribe arrested

The Police Command in Ekiti has arrested one of its men, Ayodele Famodimu, who supposedly shot dead a commercial driver on Tuesday.

The police representative, Alberto Adeyemi, told news men in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that the occurrence happened in Oye Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of the state.

“He is already facing departmental orderly room trial and when the trial is concluded, he will simply be dismissed after which he will be charged to court,” he said.

Mr. Adeyemi said the policeman murdered the transport driver at a checkpoint.

But the story has it that the policeman went after the driver and shot him to death.

A witness had however told the News Agency of Nigeria at the scene that the driver was going from Ikara in close-by Ondo State.

“When the driver was hit by the bullet, he lost control of the bus and it somersaulted while the passengers sustained various degrees of injury,” the witness said.

If the bus was not moving how did the driver loose control?. The arrested policeman Ayodele went after the driver cause he did not give him N50 bribe.
So is the police representative lying by saying the driver was shot at the checkpoint ?
