Monkey Pox : Rivers state School children fleeing school after news that soldiers are coming to inject Monkey pox

After the Rivers state Government made it public that it did not announce the vaccination any medical personnel or Army. School children have been fleeing the school when Nigerian army personnel came to administer vaccines to them.

The press release by River state government reads below

“Inoculation is personal and consent of the Rivers State Government and parents must first be sought and obtained before it can be administered on any school child in a school premises. Consequently, all school heads and parents should resist any such attempt.
“Furthermore, the State Government has set up a  Task Force to ensure that no school premises is violated in the State for the purpose of imunising any child.
“We appeal to members of the public to remain calm and return their kids to school as RSG will continue to ensure their peace and security.
“Meanwhile the State Government has ordered the arrest of anyone attempting to vaccinate any child in any school premises in Rivers State.”

Parents of pupils in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru LGA, in Rivers State, rushed out today to pick their children and ward from school, because rumours has it  that soldiers are on their way to inject their wards with the monkey pox virus.

It came as a shock as Murtala Mohammed Airport in Ikeja Lagos State went into stone age for five hours. The airport experienced power outage which forced the terminal to switch to manual for continuity.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, said that the power failure was due to a “minor electrical fault”.

Sahara Reporters reported that sources close to the terminal reveal that some of the passengers had to pull off their shirt especially the males and use hand fans.

Phew.

Yakubu further stated that FAA  engineers were already working to rectify the “minor electrical fault”, assuring the public that normalcy would be restored soon.

Yakubu added by saying that the outage did not affect normal flight operations at the airport and flight operations continued uninterrupted.
