The protest by youths and traders at the Eke Ukwu marekt has gone bloody as three people have lost theirs lives due to the gun shots by enforcement agencies. The Imo state governor did visit the demolition site saw the turn out of events.

Also, it was also gathered that the market leaders had before now, reportedly sued the Governor over plans to demolish the market, a lawsuit they allegedly won. Sources claim that the demolition of the market which is reportedly as old as Imo, is against the alleged judgement passed in court.

Non-governmental organisation HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) has codemmed the demoiltion of the Eke Ukwu market and has promised to sue Rochas okorocha, Governor of imo state.
“We are worried by the widening spectre of lawlessness and absolute disregard for the Principle of Rule of law by elected and appointed political office holders.”
HURIWA also affirmed thus: “We condemn the dictatorial and lawless administration of Mr. Rochas Okorocha of APC for violating the sanctity of the Rule of law and thereby occasioning the gross violations of the sanctity of the lives of the citizens of Imo State who were gunned down for only lawfully kicking against the unlawful and criminal acts of Government of Rochas Okorocha”.
“We will take legal notice of these infractions and will report the matter to the International Criminal Court in The Hague Netherlands so governor Okorocha and his lackeys who committed the atrocities in the demolished Owerri township market can be prosecuted for crime against humanity if the Federal government of Nigeria fails to bring these brutes in military uniforms to face the consenquences of their unlawful killings”.
HURIWA said: “We demand that the civil society community in Imo state should also proceed to press charges against identified armed security operatives who committed these daylight extrajudicial killings of protesters who posed no harm to anyone but who were simply ventilating their collective outrage at the unconstitutional act of the current Imo State governor.
Those who occupy government posotions and believe that they will be there forever are deluding themselves and the likes of Okorocha must be reminded that political power is ephemeral and that the bloodshed that happened today will not go unpunished particularly for the perpetrators and those who deployed the heavily armed soldiers”.

A 39-year old woman, Iwuagwu Onyinyechi, has been apprehended by the Ogun police command after she defrauded a Christian church the sum of N100m, under the disguise of assisting the church to raise fund for her charity programme. Onyinyechi was able to defraud the church with forged documents three good times.

The police command in a statement read by its spokesman on Sunday Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Onyinyechi’s arrest followed a complain filed by a lawyer of the church, Godswill Ojakovo, to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, in which he said that his client, the church, was defrauded by Onyinyechi through an act of forgery.

According to the spokesman, Oyeyemi, the suspect claimed to have obtained a Local Purchase Order (LPO) from a property company and pleaded to the church to help fund the LPO, after which a sum of N33.118m was successfully transferred into to her bank account.

While the church was awaiting the repayment of the loan, Onyinyechi came with another two LPOs she claimed she got from a Catholic Hospital, Iju and a private school in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Another sum of N77m was given to her, after convincing the church with relevant documents and proofs to back her claims.

But as soon as Onyinyechi got the last payment in September 2018, she went loose and this prompted the church to make discreet inquiries about the LPOs she submitted and found out that they were forged.
